happy monday

Happy Monday!

B and I just got back from our Canadian adventure and are getting ready to get back into the swing of things, which includes catching up on the blog world and posting my usual Monday musings.

I still have some unpacking to do, but I wanted to share the new Mumford and Sons song, because, well, it’s cool.

Have you heard it yet? No? Remedy that right away by clicking play below.

reminder: it’s a wonderful day

source

And it’s yet another Monday. The last one in July. I can’t believe how fast time is moving these days. Between what I have to do and what I want to do, I feel as though my mind hasn’t slowed down in months. I’m constantly starting new lists while attempting to cross off items on old ones; it can be (and has been) exhausting.

The serene image won’t really solve any problems, but it does help remind me that the world is so much bigger and more awesome than any task list I have, and I’ll get my stuff done…just probably not today.

In the meantime, remember to take some time out of the day, sit back and enjoy it.

You’d probably be expecting some calming song for the music choice, but that’s not how I roll. Bring on the happy music and have a wonderful day!

happy monday

Happy happy Monday to you! I felt like I was a little light on blogging last week, but don’t you worry, I have a week full of great stuff that deserves to be in the limelight. (that’s a hint, by the way)

How was your first June weekend? Ours was absolutely lovely. Brandon’s parents were in town and we spent Saturday afternoon perusing the fabulous art stands at the Columbus Arts Festival and then got all gussied up for a beautiful wedding at a historic hotel downtown.

monday musings

Happy Monday! I don’t have any related pictures for this post, so I’m defaulting to pictures of Lucy.

first, a bike fail:

The weather was so nice last week that I was able to ride my bike to work almost every day.  On my way home one day I was approaching a red traffic light where I need to turn right. Most times there aren’t any cars coming so I don’t have to completely get off my bike at that light.

But ugh, this time, there’s a car coming, I try to just go slow to time it right, but I got to the intersection and I had to get off the bike to stop.

Just as I get off the bike I realize the car was stopping. I look up and see I have a green light so I try to get back on the bike fast, but I didn’t really give myself a ‘push’ to get moving, and I can’t get my foot in the pedal! (The pedals that came on the bike are the kind that you put your foot into)

So I’m trying to get my foot in the pedal as the bike slowly stops moving and next thing I know, I just tip over. I’ve never been cow tipping, but I feel like it was sort of like that–how the standing cow just falls over, that was me on my bike.

I completely fall off the bike! And I wasn’t even moving! To make it better, there are a ton of cars just stopped at the stop light with nothing better to do but watch this silly girl attempt to ride a bike. One woman rolled down her window to make sure I was OK and assured me that she has had the same issue of not being able to get her foot in the pedal…

I awkwardly chuckled at her comment while proceeding to get back on the bike as fast as possible.

I was really OK, just ended up with a bruised knee and ego…

Lucy made this spot of dirt and an identical one on the other side of the tree in our backyard. Brandon and I had noticed she dug the one spot but we didn’t realize she did it for the purpose of laying in it. Maybe the dirt is cooler than the grass. Whatever the reason, that’s her spot she made in the yard.

In other news: I started a Stuff Steph Does facebook page. Exciting, right?! I have a link over in the side bar on my site or you can click here to go there and check it out. I need 25 likes to get the url I want for it.  So if you want to “like” it and keep up to date with all things stuff steph does via facebook, that would be awesome!

In the spirit of my bike riding abilities (or inabilities, rather) this week’s song is the theme song from Pee-Wee Herman’s Big Adventure. Remember that movie?? Maybe the song will jog your memory.

monday music among other things

happy monday!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. I spent quite a bit of time updating the blog this weekend, so if you’re reading this on a reader or in your email, go check out the site and see the changes! I also gave the diy page a total revamp and added a recipes page! So now it will be easier to find tasty things to eat and fun things to make!

Also, I’ve officially hopped on board the instagram train and am starting to get slightly obsessed with it. Since the weather has been so nice I started taking walks over lunch at work and I’m trying to take a photo or two during my lunchtime stroll of something I hadn’t noticed before in the city or just seeing an every day thing in a new way.

I just joined instagram on Thursday, so I only have two pictures for you.

I don’t plan on posting all of my instagram pics on here, so if you want to see more of my lunchtime stroll or other pictures I take, follow me @ stuffstephdoes

As for the music this week, I’m in a harp-y mood, so more Florence and the Machines. I like the harp part in this song. enjoy your day!

zee avi

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. I honestly hadn’t thought about a song for this week until right before I was going to bed and somehow I stumbled on Zee Avi. Seems pretty cool. This is the only song I’ve listened to so far, but I’m going to go out on a limb and trust that the rest of it is as satisfactory.

Enjoy your week!
